Game Masters

If you want to encourage your students’ creativity and fun-loving spirit, try letting them be game masters for the day!

Feedback and Comments:
  • Note that this activity works best for at least partial onsite/f2f classes, especially for the fair component.
  • Given the nature of the activity, it may work best as one of the final summative assessments in your class. Announcing it early would also benefit the students, so they can start brainstorming as you go through the different topics in your class.
  • Though possible individually, this activity is quite work-heavy, so we recommend having the students work in groups.
  • Have the students post their final choice on the discussion board to try and avoid repeats. Be sure to advise students as well if you notice during consultations that their idea is already similar to another submission.
  • We encourage that you allow them to get as creative and “extra” with their games as they want, as this is part of the fun of the activity! Just do not put too much pressure on them to come up with mind-blowing, out of the box games – remember, your subject is not the only subject they’re taking up.

“Though it seemed hard at first, it was very fun brainstorming with my groupmates, and finally bringing our game idea to life! As long as you have ample time (and multiple hands), it’s doable. The fair was also super fun – trying out everyone’s games was a great way to bond and end the semester!”
