Feedback and Comments
  • It’s important for the professor to foster an environment where it’s okay to make mistakes, since the students will be showing their work and solving problems onscreen. The students in Ms Farcon’s class praised her for her encouraging and understanding demeanor, which is why they were comfortable with this learning set-up. She also made sure to check-in with them in the middle of the semester, to make sure that they were okay with this teaching practice.
  • To avoid putting students on the spot, we recommend that if you inform them of the design pattern at the start of the semester, and remind them every now and then. This way, they know to remain alert, while avoiding embarrassing moments in class.
  • We recommend that professors keep track of which students they have called, to avoid putting the pressure only on a select few.
