Last September 18, CTL held its second Learning Lab session, featuring the New Quizzes of Canvas LMS. With the Classic Quizzes officially rumored to sunset sometime in the next few months, CTL officially rolled out the transition to New Quizzes.
Apart from facilitating an information session, CTL worked with the teachers in exploring the new features and capabilities of New Quizzes. This hands-on approach allowed for a deeper understanding of its potential, and provided valuable insights on how different subject specializations can best use New Quizzes.
CTL was happy to note that the teachers had questions that were directly related to how they can best learn the tool in the quickest way possible, especially those who are avid users of the Classic Quizzes. Fr. Cabreros pointed out how the new feature called hotspot can be used for a more engaging quiz type particularly on the topic of identifying liturgical items. Dr. Junio and Fr. Soria were both keen on learning how to migrate question banks, as this is a vital part of how they create an authentic quiz.
While it was admittedly an overwhelming topic, teachers also expressed wanting follow-up sessions and consultation time. CTL is also open to brainstorming with departments or programs on how New Quizzes can be best adopted.
